The Cabin Effect
The growing demand for wellness travel is reshaping the future of luxury hospitality - are you ready?

a new opportunity
spaces that heal
The success of Soho Farmhouse in Oxfordshire shows just how powerful this approach can be. Opening in 2015 with 40 cabins, the exclusive estate added a further 20 huts in 2022, driven by almost constant demand, with occupancy rates close to one hundred percent. By blending rustic charm with modern design and layering in wellness facilities such as spa and natural bathing, they have created an experience people are eager to replicate.
So why are cabins so uniquely suited to this kind of offer? The answer lies in their intimacy and their ability to immerse guests in nature. Research consistently shows that time spent in natural environments reduces stress, lowers anxiety and helps restore mental focus. Even short exposure to green space can have measurable effects on mood, blood pressure and recovery from mental fatigue. Cabins heighten this connection to nature: they allow guests to wake to natural light, breathe fresh air, hear birdsong and experience a slower pace that hotels can rarely offer. The result is often better sleep, calmer minds and a deeper sense of renewal.

restorative design
Of course not every cabin delivers the same outcome. Design plays a decisive role in whether the experience is restorative or merely rustic. The choice of materials, the way light is handled, how a cabin sits in the landscape and the comfort of its interior all contribute to the guest’s sense of wellbeing.
At Corr Cabins, we design with these elements at the core. Built from carefully sourced Scottish timber, our cabins combine the warmth of natural materials with layouts that frame views, invite natural light and balance openness with privacy. The result is a space that feels both grounding and luxurious.
From Corr's standard models, such as the CC01 Hood or the CC02 Pitch, to bespoke designs created specifically for a landscape or brand, we can tailor each cabin to feel like a natural extension of its setting.
At Dunsinnan Estate in Perthshire, The Cabin at Fairygreen Farm blends our signature contemporary architecture with bespoke features such as the outdoor bath and firepit, creating special moments of indulgence for guests. While at Raasay Distillery, we created Na Bothain - compact, beautifully designed cabins where guests can stay overnight as part of their whisky journey. Not only do they extend the visitor journey, they also open up a valuable new revenue stream, while staying true to the island’s landscape and the brand’s storytelling.

a low-impact model
For operators, cabins make strong business sense. Wellness travellers not only spend more but are often willing to pay a premium for thoughtfully designed spaces that offer privacy and immersion in nature. Their visual appeal and natural storytelling power also make them highly marketable, resonating strongly across social media and brand communications.
Unlike major hotel expansions, cabins can be introduced flexibly, with lower infrastructure demands and faster build times, while still offering the kind of high-value experience that elevates a property’s reputation. Planning regulations differ by location but approvals are generally far simpler to secure for these movable, temporary structures compared with permanent buildings of a similar size.
At Corr Cabins, we also offer off-site construction - a far more cost-effective and less disruptive solution than building on-site. For Château Puynard in Bordeaux, our vineyard cabins were designed and built in our Edinburgh workshop and then shipped and installed on location. We can deliver ready-to-install bespoke cabins almost anywhere across the UK and Europe - and complete installation in a single day, without compromising on design quality or craftsmanship.
