KUL Coffee
KUL Coffee was founded on a simple idea: that great coffee has the power to bring people together. Inspired by the design-led coffee culture of London and Copenhagen, owner Koray wanted to create a destination that combined exceptional coffee with a warm, welcoming atmosphere rooted in community.

CARDIGAN

Working closely with Koray, we developed the brand strategy and identity around his vision - drawing inspiration from his Turkish heritage and family traditions of gathering around the table to share coffee

our response
We built the brand around the name KUL — Koray's surname — and developed the tagline 'Where Coffee Brews Community', a philosophy that would go on to shape both the brand and the space itself.
From there, we translated this idea into a cohesive visual and physical environment. The identity balances simplicity and personality. A bold black wordmark is softened by fluid curves, a muted pastel colour palette and hand-drawn illustrations by Cardigan. These introduce warmth, character and the idea of human connection to the KUL coffee experience.

CONsidered INTERIORS
The interior concept was developed alongside the brand, creating a natural relationship between the coffee, the space and the people using it.
A sculptural curved coffee bar forms the focal point of the café, finished in textured Bauwerk Limewash paint that brings softness and tactility to the interior.
Simple furnishings in blonde timber and stainless steel introduce a contemporary edge, balancing warmth with precision, while gentle lighting and leafy green plants soften the interior creating a calm, considered backdrop inviting guests to linger.
a place for connection
The result is a distinctive neighbourhood coffee destination that combines Nordic-inspired design with genuine warmth and hospitality.
Quickly embraced by Edinburgh's coffee community, KUL established itself as a local favourite almost immediately, attracting a loyal following and widespread praise across social media.
For S+Co, it is a great example of how brand and interiors can work together to create an experience where people want to spend time and return to again and again.
