Little Capo
Little Capo is the second opening from independent restaurateur Stuart McCluskey. Having previously worked with Stu on the brand identity for Paz Taqueria, he returned to us for help bringing his vision for a new kind of Italian restaurant to life. The brief was for a relaxed all-day destination pairing a friendly, neighbourhood feel with old school hospitality in stylish surroundings.

From the bold exterior and Mediterranean colour palette to the retro Italian-inspired typography and playful illustrations, we built a visual identity that nods to vintage aesthetics while feeling fresh and fun.

our response
The palette is bold but grounded: terracotta and rusty red connect to the Mediterranean theme and blend with Edinburgh’s heritage colours, while pops of bright orange add a vibrant, modern twist.
An oversized window vinyl of the iconic Italian ‘Che vuoi?’ hand gesture is a playful beacon that draws in passers-by.
Inside, we styled the space using colour and considered material choices to elevate the compact interior, adding wood panelling, mirrors and a low bar that encourages sociable, informal dining in the style of Italian aperitivo spots.
A suite of custom illustrations was commissioned to bring personality to every touchpoint - from menus to signage to social.
AN ELEVATED INTERIOR
The illustrations depict Little Capo life with humour and warmth, featuring chefs, cocktails, and diners in full feasting mode.
Handwritten menus, custom business cards where staff can recommend their favourite local haunts, and an overarching friendly tone of voice all contribute to the personable, relaxed feel of the brand.
The result is a cohesive, characterful identity that extends from the front door to the final bill, helping to make Little Capo a joyful, memorable – and super-successful - addition to Edinburgh’s restaurant scene.
