Dunsinnan - Corr Cabins

Opportunity

Located at the foot of historic Dunsinnan Hill within the Dunsinnan Farm Estate, Alex and Alice wanted a cabin where visitors could switch off and reconnect with nature. The brief was for a low-impact, environmentally conscious structure that would fit into the rural landscape.

Response

S+Co designed the Cabin at Fairygreen Farm as the latest evolution of our Corr Cabin series - a fully modular structure, crafted in Scotland using homegrown timber.

Designed in our Edinburgh studio and manufactured in the Scottish Highlands, the cabin is built from locally sourced Sitka Spruce, transformed into high-performance cross-laminated timber (CLT) at a specialist facility in Inverness.

To ensure minimal environmental impact, the walls are super-insulated with wood fibre sheathing and blown cellulose insulation, and the structure sits on reusable jack pads, avoiding the need for intrusive poured foundations. Inside, the CLT finish remains exposed, complemented by cork flooring and locally sourced wool textiles from a nearby sheep farm—continuing the project’s commitment to sustainability.

Designed, constructed, and delivered for under £100k, the cabin blends S+Co’s hospitality expertise with a love of the outdoors, creating a sustainable, compact living space.

The response has been overwhelmingly positive, with the cabin achieving over 90% occupancy since launch.

This is just the first step in a wider estate masterplan, with S+Co continuing to collaborate with the client to develop further interventions, supporting the farm’s evolution into a sustainable tourism destination.
